Cuvee "Admiral", Pöckl, Burgenland, Austria 750ml

The boss . Named after a butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) which is domestic in our vineyards, this wine was first made from single grape varieties. The grapes used to make this wine grow on loamy gravel and sand and mature in new Barrique-barrels for 18 months. Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflexes, subtle rim. Inviting confit of black berries, fine noble wood spice, candied orange zest, minerally touch, attractive but still a bit shy. Complex, tightly knit, cool fruit of dark berries, strong tannin with a good edge, gives the wine an enormous length additionally to its pleasant extract sweetness, chocolate in the aftertaste, all in all still demanding but equipped with great substance, will take a few years until it's ready to drink.
